While most governments are reluctant to explore non-fungible tokens, Thailand is keen on capitalizing on their potential to offer additional value to its tourists. The government arm in charge of tourism in the Asian nation, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), recently launched the second season of its ‘Amazing Thailand’ NFTs that offer various perks for visitors to its country.
In total, there are 24,000 tokens that can be collected at 20 different tourist attractions located across five regions. Now, those visiting the vibrant country have until April 30 to collect the free NFTs that will offer various perks as they tour the nation. As such, studious collectors can expect to gain access to discounts on air tickets, hotels, department stores, supermarkets, restaurants, car rental services, along with many other privileges.
How to Access Amazing Thailand NFTs
The NFTs can be collected by downloading the YAKS app from the App Store or Google Play Store. After which, tourists can proceed to any of the listed collection sites and claim their free NFT by scanning a QR code, which sends the collectible directly to their digital wallet. Each unique NFT boasts a polaroid image of its designated tourist attraction and comes in either a ‘normal’ or ‘rare’ edition that include their own individual perks.
As mentioned earlier, the NFTs can be claimed from 20 sites located in five key regions: the north, north east, south, east, and central. The specific attraction sites where these NFTs lie scattered can be found on TAT’s website.
This is the second time the tourism sector has launched Amazing Thailand NFTs meant to incentivize visitors to the country. The first season took place last November, when 17,118 NFTs were claimed and utilized by tourists to access various privileges.
