What do I mean by rich?

Being in the top 10%.

Why not the top 1% or 5%? Because it’s more achievable. The gap is so wide with the other figures that you’ll feel there’s no point even trying.

I wrote another article on how much BTC you need for 2025 to be in the top 5%, but the threshold shouldn’t be so high this time around. Being in the 90th percentile is a more realistic goal for the average Joe and you still are quite wealthy.

Since I don’t know your financial goals, let’s assume the following for this calculation:

Ethereum will reach at least its previous all-time high ($4,892) and get to the widely popular $10,000 mark.2.5-year timeframe: this means selling ETH during the next bull run when there’s a lot of hype but maximum greed hasn’t been reached yet. So, in August 2025.We’ll take 1 Eth at around $1,800 (as of Sunday 9th of April, 2023).

For each country, we’ll add the expected net worth that gives you the title of “rich” (the top 10%). I’ll stick to this website to determine the amount of wealth in dollar terms for each country.

Unlike Bitcoin, which is primarily used as a store of value, Ethereum has a wider range of use cases, including decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and digital art, among others.

Ethereum has seen tremendous growth over the past few years, with its price surging from around $10 in early 2017 to an all-time high of $4,892 in 2021.

While the price has since dropped, many experts believe that Ethereum has the potential to reach even higher levels in the next few years (probably 2025).

So let’s look at potential scenarios for each of the following countries.

Being wealthy there means your net worth is $2.2 millionon average, but that’s out of reach for the average person.

Let’s lower it a little bit.

Being in the top 10% means you need a net worth of $602,100 on average.

It’s still a lot, but it looks more attainable.

Let’s put it in ETH terms. You’ll have to acquire:

Low-end (selling at $4,892): 190.6 ETHHigh-end (selling at $10,000): 71.9 ETH

Remember, this is net worth, so it’s after taking out your initial purchase.

So if you buy 190.6 ETH at $1,800 (roughly the current price), you invested $350,100. You then sold at $4,892 totaling $952,600. You’re left with a 172% profit of $602k.

If you buy 71.9 ETH at the same $1.8k you would’ve invested $132,300. Almost 1/3 compared to the abovementioned figure! And now you sold it at $10,000 totaling $735,000. You’re left with $602,700 (456% profit).

Take a look at other countries doing the same calculations.

By breaking down the amount of Ethereum needed to achieve your financial goals (top 10% net worth of any given country), it can be easier to visualize and plan for.

The threshold is higher for certain countries (e.g. USA, the UK, etc.) compared to others (e.g. Ethiopia, Egypt, etc.), but having a 2.5-year timeframe to start DCAing can be a good starting point for financial planning.

And above all, self-store your crypto! Or at least a part of it. You don’t want your hard-earned ETH to be out of your reach.

I have a Trezor wallet and I’d recommend using it whether it’s a Trezor One (cheaper) or a Trezor Model T (a more advanced wallet).

Take your time, do your research, and take action so you’re not left behind when (and if!) the market goes back up again.
